EU is to allocate additional €3 million for Spain to solve migration problems
The European Commission has allocated additional €3 million in emergency assistance for Spain to overcome the migration pressure, the agency’s website informs.
The assistance will be aimed at the expenditures “linked to the deployment of extra staff from the Guardia Civil to the southern borders of Spain.”
Taking this funding into account, the total sum of assistance to Spain since the beginning of July is €32 million.
This financial assistance is allocated in addition to €691.7 million allocated to Spain under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Internal Security Fund programme for 2014-2020.
It has been informed earlier that Madrid requested €35 million of emergency assistance from the EU due to the increase in the number of migrant arrivals on the country’s southern coast.
