In 2011, guest workers transferred 7 mlrd dollars to Ukraine

Ukrainian migrants abroad transferred 7 milliard dollars to Ukraine in 2011.

This was informed by the economist, former governmental secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers Viktor Lysytskyi.

He noted that the level of the officially registered unemployment in Ukraine is very low, that is why Ukrainians work abroad.

The economist emphasized that relying on data for the precious year, about 7 milliard dollars were transferred by labour migrants to Ukraine for their families.

“What does 7 milliard dollars mean for Ukraine? This is fancy money! This cardinally favoures the improvement of our balance of payments”, V. Lysytskyi, cited by the GolosUA, added.

He also drew a parallel with Greece, which currently suffers the period of critical crisis. “I cannot understand, why the Greek youth does not search for job, for example, in Siberia? Russians have a lot of money. There is a lot of work in Siberia. If there is a Greek and Russian state programme, Greeks could go there and work”, the expert emphasized.
